Lablab purpureus - Cuddly 'n Groovin' DK
Lablab purpureus - Cuddly 'n Groovin' DK
You are purchasing a hand-dyed skein of DK weight yarn. The beauty of this base is that you not only get an extra 15 grams of yarn, it's ALSO extra-fine merino for an oomph factor in softness and sheen!
NOTE: Photos of stand-alone full skeins are just to show detail - you will be receiving the yarn as described above and below.
"Lablab purpureus!" is part of the Groovy Hues Fiber "Hurry Up Summer!" 2024 collection. Every summer start, we would be dragged, kicking and screaming, to the nursery greenhouses to get flats of flowers for Grandma's and Mom's gardens. I used to truly love going around and reading the scientific names for the plants. It's the only thing that got me through the ordeal of watching them pick out the PERFECT flats. Lablab purpureus has always stuck with me as a fun thing to say, and SUCH a pretty purple! And this semisolid has a blend of several coordinating tonal purples.
BONUS: The more you know - In African and Asian countries - and several places in the Caribbean - , people use the entirety of the plant - flowers, leaves, and beans - as food. Elsewhere, it feeds livestock and helps keep soil's nitrogen balance healthy for crop rotation.
This colorway will work on its own, but it was designed to coordinate with 3 tonal/semisolid colors from this collection - Grammy's Garden, Sunny D, and Get the Basil for the Sauce! All 4 colors would make a GREAT sweater or a fabulous shawl for fall fiber fairs!

PLEASE NOTE:
- Please ask all questions before purchase as returns are not accepted unless the shop has made an error (i.e., shipping the wrong item).
- All yarn is photographed in a light box and adjusted as well as possible for white balance. Not all screens will depict color in the same way, and your screen may vary slightly from what you see in-person.
- As this is hand-dyed, no two skeins will be exactly alike, and therefore may differ slightly from what you see in photographs. When using multiple skeins for a project, alternate skeins between rows to achieve an overall blended effect.
- Product care: Although this is superwash wool, hand-washing in cold water with baby shampoo or extremely gentle wool wash is always recommended and preferred for extending the life of your project. Do not soak for long periods of time unless garment is unusually soiled. You may see some color release in the first wash. This does not affect the colorfastness of the yarn, nor is it a dyer error. It is recommended when working with different colors for one project, to snip a small amount from each, and wash together to ensure there is no bleeding into one another. Roll finished garment in a clean towel and lay flat to dry. Blocking pins on foam squares is recommended to keep the desired shape.
